Thermally Broken 101

Thermal break technology is a proven way of enhancing the thermal performance of aluminum. Fleetwood has successfully used this method for almost 20 years. Here is how it works:

First, the aluminum extrusion is designed with a pocket, which will later receive the energy blocking substance.
Second, the part  is extruded, then tempered for hardness and protected with either a painted or anodized finish.
Third, the cavity is knurled to better "grip" the energy blocking substance which will  be poured into the pocket.

Fourth, the pocket is filled with molten polyurethane, which hardens in seconds.

Thermal Break 1
Finally, the back of the pocket is removed, creating the energy block. Thermal Break 2
This process forms a bridge that now separates the exterior from the interior. Thermal Break 3
