NORWOOD 3050 "Hidden Threshold" MULTI-SLIDE & POCKET DOOR SYSTEM

Outstanding Features

The 3050 offers even more excellent aspects.

Distinctive Performance Glass: On all of our doors and windows we offer thousands of glazing choices. From painted glass to decorative glass we offer most materials that will fit within our glazing capacity. A great deal of interest has been directed at specialty glass such as "self cleaning" and the latest low e glazing that allows more light and less of the sun’s heat.

Vermin Resistant: When consideration is being made for the type of doors you want for your home; rodents, termites and vermin (especially the human variety) are often not factored into the decision. Invaders can easily destroy wood or vinyl but our 6063-T6 extrusions are vermin and termite resistant. The 6063-T6  designates the aluminum alloy used in our extrusions and the tempering level.

Pass-Though Window: The Series 3050 is ideal for unobstructed pass-through window applications. We highly recommend taking advantage of the pocket option for these applications. Imagine the alfresco flow of your patio to the kitchen.

Customizing Operation: Because each panel can have its own track, you can create hundreds of custom systems such as PXXXXX, OXXXXXO, PXXP, XXXXXXX, etc. Just ask your dealer or contact Inside Sales at the factory to help you design your custom system.

Glare: Another added benefit to selecting high performing glass is that glare is radically reduced, allowing you to enjoy your view all the more. Our spectrally selective low e glass is a great start and by adding tinted glass even more glare is repelled.

Saving More Money: Larger doors mean more natural light, saving you money. If you choose one of our higher performing glass systems the light is conditioned for greater comfort. Destructive elements such as UV Rays are filtered out, which improves your comfort and protects your flooring, furnishings and art.

Glass Spacer: Our standard spacer is a dark bronze anodized color. Other products use a silver spacer, which reflects light as a mirror and is often distracting.

Hidden Track System: Our unique track distinguishes the Series 3050 from all other doors in its category. It is a 1-˝” tall aluminum sill that was designed to be buried to achieve a flat track. A popular feature of this system is to stagger each track so when the panels are in a closed position, the track is concealed even more.  We also offer an optional 1” track.

Passive Solar Energy: Because we have engineered our products for strength, larger sizes are possible. Huge glass expanses not only accentuate your view but also welcome more natural light into the room.

Austere

The “3050” was created to blend with timeless architecture and make the view king.

Big Doors: Strength and beauty are demonstrated by Fleetwood’s unique ability to produce HUGE doors. For example, it is common for us to provide 6’ wide by 12’ tall panels.

Narrow Lines: Our interlockers are 2-1/8” yet strong enough to handle heights above 11’ tall.

Simple Shapes: The extrusions were designed to focus attention away from the product and toward the view. Many doors made today are “too busy” with fat lines that stifle the landscape and architecture.

Easy Operation

Consider a few features of the Norwood 3050 which cause it to operate better than any other door made.

Tighter Interlockers: Notice how the interlockers on all Fleetwood doors “wedge” into each other? This makes a rattle free union. Cheaper models rely solely on the brush weather-stripping. This causes more noise and air infiltration because the brush wears out.

Roller Science! Fleetwood maintains the industry reputation as having the best rolling doors.  To keep that prominence we have designed theMammoth. It is a stainless steel tandem roller comprised of two 3" diameter wheels with authentic precision bearings produced by our partner in Switzerland. It is so good our competitors turned from scoffers to imitators.

Roller/Track Union: If you will take the time to study the roller track you will see a unique design. Our track is a solid aluminum base that receives a heavy gauge stainless steel insert. Cheaper designs offer an aluminum runner and a metal cap. Our track will last longer, can handle more weight and is easily replaced.

Design Balance: In window and door manufacturing there is a balance that must be maintained with the type, size and quantity of weather-stripping. The Series 3050 is perfectly balanced.

Green & Sustainable

You benefit too when you are friendly to the earth.

Sustainable Design: Aluminum is a fantastic building product for those concerned about sustainability. It is naturally plentiful and perpetually surviving (recyclability). Moreover, aluminum rates very high in Life Cycle Assessment and leaves a small ecological footprint.

Safer: If a fire were to occur in your home your aluminum would not be emitting toxic fumes.  Other door products incinerate quickly and add to the flames but only windows and doors made from metal will not burn.  Also, vinyl products are petroleum based and therefore a great fire hazard and emit toxic fumes. In fact, some rural communities prohibit vinyl door products for this very reason. This product is not fire rated.

VOCs: Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are chemical compounds that outgass from many materials and can pollute the air in your home. Since Fleetwood’s painted finishes are factory cured at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, these compounds are safely removed. Neither wood nor vinyl can provide factory baked coatings.

Remnants Recycled: Manufacturing often produces waste destined for the world’s landfills. In an effort to practice effective waste minimization, 100% of our aluminum remnants are collected and melted down to make new windows and doors. This severely reduces energy input because aluminum production from scrap uses 95% less energy and limits the waste stream.

Made Of Recycled Metal: Every aluminum window and door is made up of components (rollers, latches, weather-stripping...) as well as extrusions and glass. These extrusions are comprised of virgin aluminum and, on average 40% - 50% of post consumer recycled content to provide the world with products whose supply is nearly unlimited.

Glass Sustained: In addition to the high percentage of recycled aluminum used on all Fleetwood products, the glass we use comes from vendors who practice waste reduction by recycling remnants and glass scrap for future use. The recycling of glass minimizes demand for raw materials and reduces the amount of waste that would otherwise be landfilled.

Preserving Rainforests: Wood windows and doors are prevalent in luxury homes but the harvesting of their materials has a dire affect on forested regions. On the other hand, aluminum is an abundant and sustainably harvested resource.  In fact, about 8% of the earth's crust consists of aluminum bauxite.  This bountiful supply exceeds global demands and because of its recyclable nature, aluminum is the material for the next century. Additionally, 94% of the world’s supply of bauxite is mined in non-forested regions minimizing global environmental impact.

Goes The Distance: All windows and doors eventually must be replaced BUT aluminum windows and doors last decades longer than wood and vinyl. Consider the impact on the world's landfills with all the wood and vinyl waste.  Furthermore, imagine the wasted energy on redundant manufacturing of short-lived wood and vinyl windows and doors.

Inert Coatings & Finishes: We offer two types of finishes on our aluminum windows and doors, which are paint and anodizing.  Both processes result in environmentally safe products that do not require refinishing.   Because Fleetwood products are factory finished for life, you need only keep them clean.  Can you imagine how much toxic waste would be prevented if everyone chose aluminum?  See the inside cover of our brochure for more information regarding painting and anodizing.

Environmentally Preferred: Because aluminum is a relatively lightweight building product, we can ship our windows and doors all over the world with little logistical waste. Even better, our windows and doors are created in such a way that far reaching markets can purchase glass locally and avoid the glass transit costs.

Security & Noise Control

Keeping your home safe should be the primary objective when considering windows and doors.

Security Advantages: Because Fleetwood endeavors to make its products better instead of cheaper; we can provide specialty products that others should not. The best glass for high-security is “laminated glass”. It is two sheets of glass sandwiched to a polyvinyl interlayer, just like your car windshield that must withstand severe impact for your safety. Unless our competitors have an operating system equal to Fleetwood, they should not attempt this heavier glass.

Hurricane Glazing: The Norwood 3050 is offered with factory glazed hurricane resistant glass. This specialty glazing is made with a thicker interlayer than standard laminated glass. This interlayer was designed to resist a wood missile impacting at 50’ per second.

Noise Control: Some homes are located in areas where the ambient sounds are wanted. In some cases however, exterior noises such as traffic are best if kept out. We offer all of our products with sound abatement glazing.

Trivial Matters

We believe discriminating customers will appreciate the time and attention we have put into the “little things.”

Precision Bearing Rollers: The MAMMOTH roller comes standard with authentic precision bearings. Many doors claim precision but only Fleetwood partners with a Switzerland based manufacturer that specializes in precision bearings for other industries.

Super-Duty Screen: So many other doors are provided with a flimsy screen.  Our standard screen is the best sliding screen door made, period!  Why?  Because we use the same parts as we do on the glass panels.

“Recessed Latch”: In 2005 we began a two-year design project to create a better door latching system. The market offered several types but all failed to meet the Fleetwood quality so we needed to design our own. The net result is the Archetype I and Archetype II systems.

ADA Lever: One outstanding feature of the Archetype hardware is its ability to quickly convert a standard door lock into one that meets ADA requirements. The optional ADA Lever comes in its own packet and takes only a few moments to install.

Finish Details: We have gone to great lengths to make the appearance of this door exceptional. We provide free upgrades that other manufacturers think are a waste of money, such as: Pocket Closers, Jamb Closers and Head Closers. These “small things” complete the package.

Tying Together:The series 3050 is most likely one of many window and door products for your home. We offer many other products to compliment this fine door so your home consists of the same product family. This has many advantages, one of which is warranty simplification. Make sure our dealer is not only providing a complete Fleetwood package but that your products are factory glazed.

Lasts A Lifetime

An enduring trademark of Fleetwood products is longevity, which has been carefully designed into the entire product line.

Track Replacement: Most every other door on the market cuts corners when it comes to the rollers and the track.  Our doors roll on a heavy guage stainless steel insert. This optimizes operation because the convex relationship of the track fits perfectly with the concavity of the wheel.  Most other manufacturers have an aluminum sill and strap on a thin cap.  Like most short cuts, this cap will deform and eventually come off.

Fasteners: We provide only stainless steel installation screws so the finished product remains attractive despite the harshest environments. Many brands save time and money by skimping in this area. Steel fasteners are less malleable and thus easier to work with BUT they will rust, whereas stainless steel is resistant to corrosion.

Longevity: Fleetwood has published a simple set of procedures to ensure the long life of your Fleetwood doors and windows. It is readily available from the Homeowners section of our website.

Finish Upgrade: If your home is within 5 miles of salt water we strongly recommend Edge Armor. It is a finish procedure option that involves total fabrication of your doors BEFORE painting so all edges are armored with the same protective finish as the rest of the door. This option costs a little more but the value is well worth it! As well as the aesthetic benefit, Edge Armor comes with a 10-year warranty.  It is only available in painted applications (no anodizing).

Corrosion Resistant: The Norwood 3050 consists only of the highest-grade stainless steel rollers and latch assemblies. In addition, we use only stainless steel fasteners to attach these components to the aluminum framing and we provide only stainless steel installation screws.

Fire Heat Resistance: There are window and door products designed and rated to resist the impingement of actual flames but these steel framed products are limited in function and design. Aluminum doors and windows offer great performance and style and actually help maintain wall integrity during a fire. The real enemy which often incinerates houses is heat or flying embers. Typical residential windows (wood or vinyl) are quickly damaged by heat and embers. Our extruded aluminum retains its form at over 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, helping to protect your home.

Track Damage: The track has two components: An aluminum base and a stainless steel track insert. The insert is removable and thus easy to change without destroying the flooring. Other doors attempt a hidden track but track damage will require a total removal of the track and flooring.

Finish Choices & Custom Sizes

Your door can be built with your personal selection, or even creation, of thousands of colors. We are also eager to make your door to fit your specific opening sizes.

Special Sizes: Every 3050 is made to order and custom sizes are encouraged.

The Largest 3050? Architects and designers are a big help to Fleetwood because they challenge us to “push the envelope”.  The Series 3050 door can be provided with very large door panels. Glass is usually the limitation but there are methods we can employ to get you the glass you desire in the size you want.

Finish Options: Every Norwood 3050 door is available in two stock finishes. Our Clear Anodized finish reveals the natural character of extruded aluminum and our Dark Bronze Anodized is similar to a matte black finish. We encourage custom colors and offer thousands of paint colors and a handful of earth tone custom anodized choices. Our website offers more information on colors and the difference in paint and anodizing.
